Danny Cipriani's future with the Melbourne Rebels is in doubt after senior management admitted that they had 'lost confidence' in the former England fly-half.
The 23-year-old was excluded from the Rebels' forthcoming tour of South Africa on Sunday after being stood down for a second breach of their code of conduct.
Cipriani was punished after staying out late following a defeat by New South Wales Waratahs in Sydney, having been warned earlier in the season for taking a bottle of alcohol from a Melbourne nightclub.
Rebels chief Ross Oakley confirmed that both the players and management backed the decision to give Cipriani the cold shoulder prior to meetings with the Bulls in Pretoria and the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein over the next two weeks.
"The playing group and management have lost confidence in Danny after the latest in a series of off field breaches of the team's behavioural standards," he said. "To put the decision in context, Danny also chose to stay out late again the night after the incident in Sydney, and did not attend training the following day.
"Management is addressing these issues with Danny and we support the decision to not allow him to join the tour to South Africa."
