Wales take on Samoa in Hamilton on September 18, with the spectre of two of the biggest upsets in Rugby World Cup history still fresh in the memory for many Welsh fans.

At the 1991 tournament Wales were felled 16-13 at Cardiff Arms Park, with the legendary Brian Lima making an impact at his first World Cup.

Lightning struck twice when in 1999 the Samoans produced a thrilling display to beat the hosts at the brand new Millennium Stadium. Their 38-34 victory contained a breakaway try for inspirational skipper Pat Lam shortly before his retirement, while fly-half Stephen Bachop, also an All Black, was Wales' main tormentor with two tries.

The last meeting between the sides came in 2009, when a late Seilala Mapusua try silenced the Cardiff crowd only for the hosts to cling on for a 17-13 victory at the death.
