London Wasps flyer Christian Wade is adamant that he is focused on putting in consistently top level performances for his club side rather than dreaming of international recognition.

England boss Stuart Lancaster will unveil his re-jigged Elite Player Squad on January 9 and Wade, who is currently in the Saxons squad, has been widely tipped as someone who could well step up to the full squad. But Wade, who has scored eight tries for Wasps this season, is adamant that he is keeping his feet on the ground despite the growing clamour for him to be given his chance in the forthcoming Six Nations.

Wade has played in three non-capped matches for England and he is hungry for more international action, but Wasps comes first for the 21-year-old. "I'm trying to focus on my performance in the Aviva Premiership and maintain what I'm doing. I'm not eyeing up England as such, I just want to keep going," Wade said. "I'm currently in the Saxons squad and am looking forward to January, we've got a few games coming up and I really want to play well in them and see where that takes me.

"I've already tasted it against the Barbarians and that was awesome back in May. It's amazing to wear the white shirt and play. It was great to score for my country as well - it was an amazing, amazing feeling and I want to feel it again."
