England opt for Farrell, Ford and Myler at No.10

England will go with Owen Farrell, George Ford and Stephen Myler as their three fly-halves in the new Elite Player Squad, according to the Daily Mail.

The news means Danny Cipriani and Freddie Burns are expected to be named in the Saxons squad and will have to rely on injuries to progress back into the senior set-up. Ford has started the season superbly and is currently the top points scorer in the Aviva Premiership with 84 though Myler has started the season well for Northampton.

For Farrell, he has missed the majority of this season through injury but he could be back in the Saracens mix for this weekend's match against Clermont Auvergne. Though Ford is the form fly-half in the Premiership, Farrell is widely regarded as England's first-choice No.10.

There is a chance both could start for England when they face the All Blacks on November 8. Stuart Lancaster, who said on Monday he knows 80% of his World Cup squad, favours a playmaking inside centre and has not ruled out the possibility of playing Ford and Farrell in tandem at 10 and 12.

'Yes, we did that in the Italy game [at the end of last season's Six Nations]," Lancaster told Sky Sports on Monday. "Owen was starting at 10 and George was on the bench. We brought George on and Owen moved to 12, so it has been done and obviously as age-grade players they played together all the time so they understand each other and they are best mates as well.
