Cardiff Blues No.8 Xavier Rush and scrum-half Richie Rees are both set to face disciplinary panels in the wake of their Heineken Cup defeat to Northampton Saints on Sunday.

Rush was red-carded for a high tackle on Saints lock Courtney Lawes during his side's 23-19 defeat at Cardiff City Stadium and he will face an independent disciplinary hearing in Bristol on Wednesday. If found guilty the Kiwi faces a ban between two and 52 weeks and is almost certainly set to miss the Blues' Magners League clashes with the Dragons and Ospreys later this month.

Rees has been cited for allegedly making contact with the eye area of Saints hooker Dylan Hartley although a hearing date has not yet been announced. If found guilty, the International Rugby Board recommended sanctions stipulate he faces a ban of between 12 and 156 weeks.

In related news, London Irish winger Sailosi Tagicakibau has escaped further sanction following his red-card during his side's defeat to Toulon on Saturday as a result of two yellow card offences. An independent Judicial Officer considered the matter today and has determined that the sending-off was a sufficient sanction and so Tagicakibau is free to play.

Elsewhere, Gloucester's David Attwood has also been cited for an alleged stamp during his side's Amlin Challenge Cup clash with La Rochelle on Sunday. Attwood is alleged to have stamped on La Rochelle prop Petrisor Toderasc in Gloucester's 24-18 defeat. The Independent Judicial Officer and a date for the hearings are yet to be announced.

La Rochelle's Vincent Roux will not receive any further punishment following his dismissal in Sunday's Amlin Challenge Cup win at Gloucester. An ERC disciplinary hearing upheld the red card but determined that the sending-off was a sufficient sanction.
