Former Leeds Carnegie fly-half Adrian Jarvis has signed for Aviva Premiership side London Irish ahead of the 2011-12 season.

Jarvis, 28, is well-travelled in English rugby having previously turned out for Harlequins, Bristol and Leeds and will vie with fellow new arrival Steven Shingler and Kiwi Dan Bowden for the Exiles' fly-half berth. With London Irish's new centre Shontayne Hape expected to be included in England's World Cup squad, Jarvis will provide valuable midfield cover.

"I am excited at the challenge of joining London Irish," commented the England Saxons international. "I feel that some of my best rugby is still ahead of me and I am sure London Irish is the best place to bring it out. There are some talented and exciting players in the Exiles backline and I look forward to playing and training alongside them all."

Head coach Toby Booth was delighted with the capture of Jarvis and expects him to play a key role in the coming season. "During a World Cup year when there are key players missing it is important to have players around the squad with experience and that is something Adrian will bring to us" Booth said.

"We have talented youngsters who will learn a great deal from him. His kicking out of hand and at goal is outstanding and it is very good to know that we will have that in our locker for this season."

Jarvis will be joined at London Irish next season by fellow new signings Hape, Joe Ansbro and Jonathan Spratt.
