Prop Aston Croall has returned to Harlequins until the end of the current season as an 'injury-joker.'

The Aviva Premiership league leaders have been hit by injuries in the front-row to Darryl Marfo and Matt Cairns and Conor O'Shea has moved quickly to bolster their resources with the signing of the Sale Sharks prop. Croall signed for the Sharks in the summer of 2010 having previously plied his trade at Quins for the previous four years during which time he turned out for England at age-group level.

And Croall is relishing the chance to run out in front of the Twickenham Stoop crowd once again. "I have had a great year and a half at Sale, and would like to thank the fans, players and coaches for the way in which they have welcomed me into the squad, but I am excited to be returning to my old club," Croall said. "I am looking forward to being back with the guys and getting stuck into training. Hopefully, I can help towards continuing the great start which Quins have made this season."

Quins director of rugby O'Shea is looking forward to welcoming the prop back to training on Monday and has thanked Sale boss Steve Diamond in the process. "I am delighted to be welcoming back a player whom we never wanted to see go in the first place but, unfortunately, due to the salary cap, we were unable to keep," O'Shea said. "He is an experienced performer and I know the players are excited to have him back in the squad.

"I would really like to thank Steve Diamond and everyone else at Sale for the manner in which they have allowed us to do this deal."
