London Wasps face an anxious wait over centre Chris Bell after he ruptured his Achilles tendon in their win over Rovigo on Sunday.

Wasps are already without several key figures with flanker Tom Rees facing an indefinite spell on the sidelines after he tore his ACL while Jonathan Poff suffered a knee injury against Bordeaux and will be out for between three and four weeks. Joe Launchbury is also a long-term absentee after undergoing surgery on his ankle and is expected to be back in three months.

And Bell has had an impressive start to his career with Wasps after making his summer switch from Sale Sharks but now faces six months out. Wasps boss Dai Young admitted Bell's injury is a blow to the Adams Park side.

"We are all gutted for Chris who has been one of our standout players all season," Young said. "He has made a big impact on the field and it's a big blow for us that he won't play a further part for this length of time.

"Belly is a big part of our plans here and he will receive excellent support throughout his rehab to make sure he comes back strongly."
