London Irish have announced that Guy Armitage will return to the club on loan for the rest of the season.

Armitage left the Exiles last summer to take up a contract with Top 14 giants Toulon and trod the same path that brothers Delon and Steffon took when they opted to move to Mourad Boudjellal's side. But with London Irish stretched in the centres, they have acted quickly to bolster their options with the capture of Armitage.

London Irish director of rugby Brian Smith said: "I was very keen for Guy to stay on at the club when I arrived back at London Irish so I am delighted he has re-joined us for the season. Guy's development at Toulon was always going to be in stages and it makes sense in season one to come back for 1st XV game-time and continue his development."

Armitage added: "It is great to be back at London Irish and I am looking forward to playing some competitive rugby. I cannot wait to get started."

London Irish currently have Joe Ansbro (neck) out of action and are still waiting on rugby league's Setaimata Sa to arrive at the club due to visa issues. England centre Jonathan Joseph is expected to be called up by England for the November Tests and they have recently turned to winger Sailosi Tagicakibau to fill the inside centre void.
