Leicester Tigers have confirmed the signings of two new players in the aftermath of the 2014-2015 Aviva Premiership season.

Hooker Greg Bateman joins from Exeter Chiefs while New Zealand Under-20 scrum-half Jono Kitto will arrive from the New Zealand Super Rugby's Chiefs'development squad to provide competition and cover for England No.9 Ben Youngs and Frenchman David Mele. Bateman arrives after two seasons at Sandy Park having made a mere two starts for the club.

Leicester director of rugby Richard Cockerill said: "Greg knows we have a very competitive group of front-rowers at this club, but he says he wants to come here and develop and test himself in that company. He has already gained useful Aviva Premiership experience and we look forward to his arrival this summer."

Speaking to the Tigers' official website, Cockerill highlighted the influence of Kiwi head coach Aaron Mauger in bringing Kitto, 23, to the club.

"Jono is keen to come to Leicester and challenge himself as a player.

"Aaron Mauger obviously knows New Zealand rugby very well and he sees an opportunity for Jono to come here and make an impact in the Tigers squad."

Kitto joins Chiefs team-mate and fellow New Zealander Mike Fitzgerald in signing for Leicester ahead of the new season.
