Neil Best has accused Ireland coach Declan Kidney of ignoring players plying their trade in England.

Best played 18 times for his country between 2005 and 2007 but has not featured in an Ireland squad since quitting Ulster for Northampton in 2008.

The abrasive flanker is currently lining out for Worcester Warriors and he believes that playing outside Ireland is a major handicap for those hoping to earn a call-up to the national team, citing the plight of two of his former team-mates at Franklin's Gardens as a case in point.

"Roger Wilson and James Downey are playing in a Heineken Cup final against Leinster, but neither of them have been getting a look-in," he is quoted as saying by the Irish Independent. "It seems you're not going to get a look-in if you're playing outside Ireland."
