London Irish have announced that Joe Ansbro has returned home after breaking his neck against Munster last Friday.

Ansbro will not have to go under the surgeon's knife though it is not clear when the Scotland international will be allowed to return to action. Ansbro's injury will be "managed by external fixations" and London Irish claim he is "in high spirits".

Fellow Exiles centre Jonathan Joseph, who starts for London Irish against Saracens tomorrow, expressed his dismay at Ansbro's injury. Joseph said: "I am absolutely gutted for Joe, he is a great player and great person as well, he will be massively missed around the club.

"We all wish him a speedy recovery and hope to see him back on the field soon."
