Ben Youngs pencilled in for Sale clash

Leicester Tigers boss Richard Cockerill plans to give Ben Youngs some game time in their match with Sale on October 5.

Youngs injured his shoulder playing for England back in June and was originally pencilled in for a late-October return which raised doubts over whether he would have had enough game time ahead of the November Tests. But the news will come as a huge boost for both the Tigers and England and it seems likely that he will turn out for Leicester at the start of their Heineken Cup campaign.

"Ben Youngs should be available to play some part of the game against Sale," Tigers boss Richard Cockerill told the Leicester Mercury. "He is doing really well, has been doing contact training and his shoulder is in good shape. His rehab has gone really well."

The Tigers entertain Exeter this weekend and Cockerill is hopeful of having England centre Manu Tuilagi back in the mix. He missed their match with Harlequins on Saturday and alongside Tuilagi, the Tigers boss is also optimistic of being able to call upon more of his currently injured contingent in the near future.

"Manu is okay. His shoulder is improving every day," Cockerill said. "We are hoping he will be fit for the weekend and he should be. Tait and Forsyth will both be fit for Monday night in the A League."

"Louis Deacon may be fit as well, but we will see. He should be back potentially for Sale and, if not then, then certainly Toulouse. With Ed Slater, Tait and Forsyth coming back as well, we are starting to get what resembles a relatively healthy squad."
