Leicester back-rower Brett Deacon has been suspended by the Tigers for seven days following his red card against Bath over the weekend.

Deacon was one of three players - alongside Bath duo Francois Louw and Matt Banahan - dismissed in five minutes of mayhem at Welford Road, where Leicester triumphed 17-12 on Saturday.

Louw was the first to receive his marching orders on the hour mark for use of the elbow, while Banahan saw red for a high tackle on Anthony Allen, with Deacon also sent off after the incident. The Tigers reviewed the footage and deemed the 30-year-old was guilty of striking an opponent.

A club statement said: "Brett has been banned for seven days and he will miss the Heineken Cup Round Three match against Benetton Treviso this weekend. Brett regrets his actions which left his team with 14 men during the second half of a vital club match."
