Leicester Tigers have announced the signing of loose-head prop Tom Bristow from London Welsh.

The 21-year-old, who made 21 Premiership appearances for the Exiles last season, is the Tigers' ninth new signing ahead of the new campaign and is set to provide welcome competition with Marcus Ayerza set to be on Rugby Championship duty with Argentina until mid-October.

Tigers director of rugby Richard Cockerill said: "Tom is a young up-and-coming prop and he joins a very good bunch of promising young front rows at the club, including Fraser Balmain, Ryan Bower and Academy prospects Riccardo Brugnara, Tiziano Pasquali and Harry Rudkin.

"This is a good environment for Tom and the other young guys to learn their trade alongside senior props Marcos Ayerza, Boris Stankovich, Logovi'i Mulipola, Dan Cole and Jerome Schuster."

Bristow said: "I enjoyed my experience with London Welsh in the Aviva Premiership last season but I'm happy to be here now and delighted to have the opportunity with Leicester Tigers. I'm looking forward to settling in during the pre-season and being part of the Tigers squad."

Bristow follows Schuster, hooker Neil Briggs, lock Sebastien De Chaves, back-rower Jamie Gibson, scrum-half David Mele, fly-halves Ryan Lamb and Owen Williams and winger Gonzalo Camacho in commiting his future to Welford Road.
