Wray calls for Anglo-Welsh league
September 15, 2013
Saracens chairman Nigel Wray has called for the Welsh regions to join the Aviva Premiership.
Wray is currently pushing for an end to the current Union-run Heineken Cup and wants to see the proposed Anglo-French breakaway tournament come to fruition next season. And Wray also believes an Anglo-Welsh league would help development on home soil.
In his view the LV= Cup is not ticking the boxes and he would want to see the four Welsh regions - Dragons, Blues, Ospreys and Scarlets - link-up with the Premiership sides.
"I feel we should have the Welsh clubs in the Premiership," Wray told ESPN. "It would be a league to replace the LV Cup as what the customers wants are big games every weekend."
