With Maitland injured, who do you pick in your back three?

Scotland will be without David Denton and Sean Maitland for the start of the 2015 Six Nations.

Both sustained injuries at the weekend with Denton injuring his calf and Maitland picking up a knock to the shoulder. The duo will miss the start of the championship and have retuned to their clubs.

In Denton's case he picked up a tear to his calf in Edinburgh's win over Bordeaux while Maitland picked up the shoulder damage in Glasgow's loss at Bath.

Scotland head into the Six Nations off the back of an impressive autumn campaign and they will hope to fare better in the championship this time around. Such was Scotland's poor form last year, there were calls for them to be booted out of the championship but SRU CEO Mark Dodson is adamant the team are in a better place this term.

"There was a lot of hysteria around last year and justifiably people were upset," he said. "But we had the perfect storm of things that went wrong. We had injuries, we had a pitch that for no fault of our own cut up badly and we didn't perform against England, which the Scottish public won't tolerate.

"But things weren't as bad as people portrayed. There is always people jumping the anti-Scotland bandwagon down south, especially in a year with an independence vote. It was all ill-informed nonsense. It was all a year after France finished bottom of the Six Nations and I didn't see a clamour of people asking them to pre-qualify."
