Tom Taylor is reportedly on Toulon's radar after Quade Cooper turned his back on the European Rugby Champions Cup winners.

Cooper pulled out of his reported deal with the French Top 14 powerhouse, after he was photographed in a Toulon jumper shaking hands with club owner Mourad Boudjellal, with unconfirmed reports saying the Wallabies playmaker will sign a new four-year contract with the Australian Rugby Union with a view to spearheading the 2016 Olympic campaign for which Australia is yet to qualify.

Boudjellal has threatened to sue the ARU, accusing them of "dirty" tactics for "speaking to a player who they know has signed", but media reports in France suggest he is now looking at Crusaders and Canterbury utility Taylor, who won three All Blacks caps in 2013, as a replacement.

Taylor, 26, had signed a three-year contract to join Bayonne, but the Basque club's relegation from the Top 14 has triggered his get-out clause.

Toulon, meanwhile, have completed the signing of veteran Fiji wing Sireli Bobo as Rugby World Cup cover. The 39-year-old heads to Stade Mayol having spent the past season with La Rochelle, whom he helped to a ninth-place finish in the Top 14.

Toulon are expecting to be without both Bryan Habana and Drew Mitchell for the World Cup, making Bobo a useful addition out wide. The former Biarritz and Racing 92 speedster will be asked to provide cover alongside compatriotĀ Josua Tuisova and World Cup joker Julien Caminati.
