Ireland's Tommy Bowe ruled out of Six Nations following knee surgery

Tommy Bowe will not play any part in next year's Six Nations after Ulster confirmed the winger had been ruled out for six months with a knee injury.

Bowe suffered posterior cruciate ligament and meniscal injuries during Ireland's Rugby World Cup quarterfinal defeat to Argentina, and having undergone surgery will not be available until at least April 2016.

"He [Bowe] had successful surgery to repair the damage yesterday and he will be ruled out for at least six months," Ulster confirmed on their website on Tuesday.

There was slightly better news on a couple of Bowe's Ireland teammates, though, with Iain Henderson set for a six-week lay-off and Jared Payne's foot injury having "stabilised".

Henderson was also injured against the Pumas and will undergo surgery on Tuesday, while Ulster will wait for a post-operative review before revealing a prognosis of Payne's fractured foot.
