The 20-year-old, who helped England U20's to the final of the IRB Junior World Championship in 2008, has featured 14 times for the Falcons this season but has seen his opportunities limited at Kingston Park by the presence of Kiwi Jimmy Gopperth who currently leads the Guinness Premiership scoring charts.

The Sharks' director of rugby Kingsley Jones welcomed the acquisition, commenting, "Rob signing for us is excellent news for the club. Rob will be a great understudy to Charlie Hodgson. He has all the skills we need, is a great defender and an excellent goal kicker."

"Overall we have a very young squad at Franklin's Gardens, and while this is exciting we also need some experience around as well," director of rugby Jim Mallinder said. "Adam and Mark will both bring a record of consistently high standards that go back for several years.

"They have proven themselves to be quality performers in the Guinness Premiership and are excellent additions to our squad ahead of next season. As well as being good players in their own right they will also be people who the younger players can learn from."

"The key thing with Matt and Miles is we'll have them fit for the start of next season," director of rugby Mike Ruddock told BBC Hereford and Worcester. "For Matt in particular, and hopefully for Miles as well, next season is a massive one with the World Cup."

The Top 14 giants have been hit by injuries in recent weeks while chasing hard in the league. They also face a Heineken Cup quarter-final against Stade Francais this weekend.

"Toulouse needed to recruit back-up after the numerous long-term injuries affecting certain players from the backs," the club said.
