- Newcastle Falcons have announced lock forward James Hudson will captain the side for the coming season.
The 28-year-old England Saxons international skippers the Falcons after impressing in his maiden campaign at Kingston Park, having played in all 22 Premiership games.
Heralding Hudson's appointment as skipper for the 2010-11 campaign, Falcons head coach Alan Tait said, "James has got everything you would want for the role. He has embraced the changes we are making at the club right now, and he has really grown as a leader during his time with us.
Speaking from America where he is currently on tour with England Saxons preparing for this weekend's Churchill Cup final, a delighted Hudson said: "It's a fantastic honour to be asked to captain the club. "Carl Hayman did a great job last season so I know I have big shoes to fill as skipper, but I can't wait to get my teeth into it."
- Worcester Warriors have signed former Ospreys hooker Ed Shervington. The Newport-born front rower has signed a one-year deal to make the move to Sixways and will link up with his new team-mates for the first time next week ahead of their first season in the Championship.
