Former Harlequins boss Dean Richards is eyeing an immediate return to coaching once his ban is up.

The 48-year-old is currently serving a three-year suspension from the game for his role in the 'Bloodgate' scandal which hit Harlequins back in 2009. Winger Tom Williams used a fake capsule to fabricate a blood injury to enable Quins to replace him with Nick Evans in the closing minutes of their quarter-final with Leinster.

And Richards, who returns from his ban in eight months, claims he still has the thirst to compete for more major trophies. : "I want to get back into the game. I have another eight months of the ban to serve but when that's done I'll be straight back," Richards told Soar Magazine. "I still have ambitions to win more major trophies.

"It's been a bit of a blip in my career but we all make mistakes. What's important is to learn from them."

With Harlequins currently riding high in the Premiership and Leicester seemingly settled after their early-season blip, Richards looks likely to have to turn his attentions to a new project.
