Newcastle Falcons have completed the signing of Italian lock Carlo del Fava.

The 30-year-old becomes the Falcons' second second-row signing this week after they announced former Scotland lock Scott Macleod's signature on Monday. Del Fava has huge experience at international level with 54 caps to his name and has also played in two World Cups.

Del Fava's previous sides include the Natal Sharks, Bourgoin, Ulster and he arrives at the Falcons from Aironi and is looking forward to running out at Kingston Park, regardless of what division the Falcons are in next term.

"Newcastle Falcons are a club that is on the up and I am really looking forward to the challenge of playing in England," Del Fava said. "There are some exciting times ahead for the club, further strengthened by the appointment of Dean Richards as director of rugby."
