Sale are hoping the contract renewals of Ross Harrison and Nick Macleod are a sign of things to come.

The Sharks announced a new two-year deal for fly-half Macleod and a three-year contract for front-rower Harrison on Thursday and Sharks boss Steve Diamond is optimistic the duo's decision will be followed up by "several more contract renewals in the coming weeks".

But before they come around, Diamond was delighted with Harrison and Macleod's decision. He said: "As far as Nick is concerned, he's a model professional who has been at the club for five years now and he's a great player at number ten. He's a really popular guy with all of the squad and he's does a good job whenever he plays.

"As regards Ross, he comes out of the Henry Thomas, Tommy Taylor and James Gaskell camp.

"He's a really positive lad who always gives his all for the club. He's been learning a lot off the Fridge [fellow prop Eifion Lewis-Roberts] and we see a massive future for him. He's definitely got a full representative future with England ahead of him if he carries on in the way he's going."
