England fly-half Freddie Burns' move to Leicester will be announced in the New Year, according to The Rugby Paper.
The Gloucester fly-half has reportedly signed a three-year deal with Leicester, a move which will see him step into the shoes of fellow England fly-half Toby Flood who is expected to complete a move to Toulouse in the next couple of weeks.
Before next season, Burns will continue to play for Gloucester though he faces a battle to get back into their first team after a recent slump in form. Burns is on the bench for Sunday's match against London Irish and he also sat out last weekend's 12-6 win over Worcester at Kingsholm. He previously admitted talk of his future has distracted him.
Gloucester have been playing Billy Twelvetrees at fly-half in Burns' place but they are expected to replace Burns with another No.10. Ex-Crusaders half-back Stephen Brett is currently on their radar though ESPNscrum understands Gloucester are also looking at Wales' Rhys Priestland, a transfer which would see the Welsh fly-half link up with his former Scarlets coach Nigel Davies at Kingsholm.
