Northampton Saints prop Alex Corbisiero could be available for Saturday's game against Wasps with the news coming as a timely boost for both club and country.

Corbisiero has been out for the last six months after picking up an injury while on England duty in the run up to their game against New Zealand in November. He was rumoured to be in the selection mix for Northampton's game against Bath on Friday night but that came too soon and Jim Mallinder is optimistic he may have a couple of players returning from injury in time to face Wasps at the weekend.

"Hopefully, we've got a couple of big lads in the front row returning soon," Mallinder told the Daily Mail. "They're all training well, working hard and we could see some of them against Wasps."

The news will give some cheer to England boss Stuart Lancaster who will be waiting on the results of two scans which take place on Tuesday. Centre Billy Twelvetrees will find out the severity of an ankle injury he picked up at the weekend while Bath hooker Rob Webber is also having a scan on a knee injury.
