Bath have been given permission to increase the capacity of their iconic Recreation Ground to 14,000 for the next two seasons.

The news comes less than four weeks since the council appeared to pour cold water on the plan to increase the capacity by 2000 seats in their 150th anniversary season.

'This extra capacity will allow more people to get closer to the action during a landmark year in our history,' Bath chief executive Nick Blofeld said.

The club is still seeking a permanent increase to the ground, but these plans have been halted by local opposition.
