Sale Sharks' plans for next season have continued apace with the announcement of a new deal for lock Jonathan Mills and the re-signing of hooker Neil Briggs from Leicester Tigers.

Mills has signed a two-year extension to his contract after joining the club in the summer of 2013 from London Welsh.

Briggs, meanwhile, played more than 100 times for the north-west club between 2005-2011. In 2011, he moved to France with Bourgoin, then London Welsh and Tigers. He has also signed a two-year deal.

"Millsy has been a key player for us since he joined us from London Welsh two years ago," said director of rugby Steve Diamond. "With his hard work and leadership skills both on and off the pitch, he epitomises everything that we are about. He played a big part in our success last season and has again been a key player for us so far this campaign and we are all thrilled he has signed a new deal with us.

"As for Neil, he needs no introduction to Sale fans. After leaving us he has picked up a wealth of experience playing with Bourgoin in France then with London Welsh and most recently with Leicester Tigers. And I believe that Neil has got better and better as his career has developed.
