Ma'a Nonu has been joined by Brodie Retallick in the All Blacks treatment room after the duo suffered injuries during their dogged 27-20 Rugby Championship victory over South Africa.

Nonu departed the pitch after 46 minutes and was replaced by Malakai Fekitoa, while Retallick pushed through the pain barrier to see out the entire 80 minutes.

When All Blacks coach Steven Hansen was asked about Nonu's injuries, he commented: "He's got a sore shoulder, that is all I can tell you.

"It is something to do with his rotator cuff, they don't think it is too bad. But with most injuries, in the heat of the moment, it is not until the next day [that more is known]. So we will probably get him scanned when we get home and we will have a better idea then."

Retallick's injury was pre-existing from the side's warm-up routines and the lock was praised by his coach after committing to play.

"He should be very proud of himself and we are very proud of him," said Hansen.

The All Blacks are now unlikely to field the duo in their next fixture which takes place in Sydney in a fortnight's time against Michael Cheika's Wallabies.
