Eddie Jones' arrival in England has been held up by visa issues. The Australian is currently in Tokyo as he waits for the relevant paper work to be rubberstamped, according to a report in The Times.

When Jones arrived in London to sign his Rugby Football Union contract and face the press as England's new head coach, he was on a visitor's permit. He then left London to undertake work for World Rugby in Los Angeles and then returned to Tokyo where his wife currently is.

But despite being the head coach of England's national team, his application has not been fast-tracked and he faces a frustrating wait after he was meant to start work on Tuesday.

Although he is on the other side of the world, Jones is working hard with reports suggesting he has asked the RFU to approach Bristol forwards coach Steve Borthwick about a possible job. Jones' predecessor Stuart Lancaster's three assistants are still employed by the RFU but are currently in a state of limbo as they wait to meet the new head coach who will speak with the trio before deciding whether to keep them on.
