Australian rugby to have a Bundy good time
October 12, 2000

Australian has matched its on field successes off the field with a record $13 million sponsorship aimed at establishing rugby as the country's number one winter sport.

Bundaberg Rum has entered a five-year deal with the ARU that will involve naming rights on all Test series and inbound tours, and financial assistance of the three major State Unions to help them develop the grassroots levels of the games, particularly in regional areas.

Part of expansion plans will take the British Lions for games next year to several regional areas including Gosford, Coffs Harbour and Townsville.

"Australian Rugby is enjoying an outstanding period of success and now is the perfect time for us to work with our sponsors to expand and grow," ARU Managing Director and CEO, John O'Neill said.

"Bundaberg Rum should be congratulated for recognising the need to support the development of rugby while helping us promote the game at the highest level.

"With their help we will make rugby more accessible at all levels in both metropolitan and regional areas.
