Trinder pens new Gloucester contract

Henry Trinder has signed a new two-year contract with Gloucester.

Trinder looked to be on the verge of an England call-up prior to the start of the autumn series and with his contract up at the end of the season, he has chosen to prolong his stay at the Cherry and Whites.

He follows in the footsteps of Billy Twelvetrees and Rob Cook of penning new contracts with Gloucester and Nigel Davies was delighted with Trinder's decision. "Henry can form a formidable midfield partnership with Billy Twelvetrees which, moving forward, will underpin Gloucester," Davies said. "He's been in superb form so far this season and I firmly believe will only get better."

Meanwhile Trinder admitted that he's happy and relieved to get his future sorted out. He said: "It's been a busy last month or so with the England call-up, so it's great to get it all out of the way so that I can focus on my rugby.

"Kingsholm is a fantastic place to play rugby and, after I spoke with Nigel and he outlined where he's hoping to take the club in the future, I wanted to be part of that. I think it would be fair to say we've not hit our stride fully yet this season, but we've got a really talented squad and I know we've got more to deliver than we've shown so far."
