James O'Connor has admitted that there are complications which may prevent him playing at the 2015 Rugby World Cup.

O'Connor spent last season at London Irish as he tried to reinvent himself after a series of brushes with authority led to him being botted out by Australia, and he will start next season at Toulon before returning to Super Rugby in 2015.

But he has not played for Australia for almost a year and he admitted that a recall was not as easy as some made out.

"I can't say much because I don't really know myself to be honest," O'Connor told Rugbyrama. "Of course I want to play in the Rugby World Cup and wear the shirt of my country once again. But there are lots of rules and it's complicated.

"I'll continue to discuss with the powers that be if it's feasible. But for now, I want to focus on what I'm doing here at Toulon and to win titles."
