Cipriani wants to extend Sale stay

Danny Cipriani has said he is keen to extend his stay at Sale Sharks and wants the team to continue to improve after last season's sixth-place finish in the Aviva Premiership.

Cipriani arrived at Sale prior to the 2012-13 season and was in inspired form last term as he helped the Sharks qualify for the Champions Cup while earning an England recall in the process. He is now heading into the final year of his contract with Sale and he is keen to extend his stay with the Sharks, something he mentioned last season.

"That is still the case," Cipriani told the BBC. "I would be happy to stay."

And Cipriani hopes Sale continue their recruitment drive after they added Magnus Lund to the squad earlier this week. "I still feel like it would be nice to get three more big players into the team, just when you look at the squads that are available for the teams above us and the rotation they can do, but we're building towards that.

"We're in a new stadium and we're hopefully going to get more numbers here moving to Saturday games. Rugby union in the north has a buzz about it and it's going to be a big year. We're in a better starting position than we were last year so it's important we add to it and move on."
