Bath head coach Mike Ford is hoping to tee-up a couple of days training alongside Super League side Wigan Warriors.
Bath are currently in Portugal in a pre-season training camp as they prepare for the 2014-15 campaign. Ford is wary of his team playing too many games in the build-up to the new season and at present they have just two pre-season matches teed up with Bath facing the Scarlets and Jersey.
"Last year we had four games and I think that was too many," Ford told the Bath Chronicle. "Personally I am not a big fan of pre-season games as you can easily pick up injuries. The training we do at Farleigh will be sufficient to make sure we are ready for the first day of the season. We played 39 games last year including pre-season. The crucial thing is we are ready for the Sale game and we will be."
And Ford, who played in rugby league for Warrington and Castleford, is hopeful the Warriors will play a role in Bath's preparations. "We will be creative and think outside the box and give ourselves the chance to try a few different things.
"Wigan might come down to train with us for a couple of days and we've discussed for Bristol to come to Farleigh for a day, which was something we did last year and was very productive. In a game situation you can only have the 15 or 23 involved, whereas in training we can create a situation where everyone is involved."
