Gloucester will be without centre Henry Trinder for a spell after he underwent shoulder surgery.

Trinder picked up the injury in their 34-27 win over Sale on September 13 and was forced off in the 75th minute. He sat out their loss to Exeter on Friday and it was decided Trinder needed surgery.

The club said: "The procedure was a success and as Trinder recovers from surgery, he will follow a shoulder rehab programme that will allow him to return to play as soon as possible."

With Trinder absent, Henry Purdy started at outside centre against Exeter with Mark Atkinson covering from the bench.
