Newcastle Falcons have signed Argentina prop Juan Pablo Orlandi from Bath Rugby with immediate effect.

Orlandi, who has 15 caps for the Pumas, will join fellow Argentines Gonzalo Tiesi and Juan Pablo Socino at the Falcons and director of rugby Dean Richards was delighted to bring in the versatile front-row.

"We're delighted to be able to bring a player of Juan Pablo's calibre into the club," Richards said. "Over recent months we've seen a number of front row players unavailable for selection due to injury and international duties, and to be able to add Juan Pablo to our options in that area provides us with greater depth on either side of the scrum.

"Juan Pablo is a strong guy who has already proven he can make an impact at the highest level, and we look forward to integrating him into our side over the coming weeks."

Bath Rugby head coach Mike Ford said: "Juan Pablo is a much-liked character who will be missed, but we fully understand and support his reason for joining Newcastle. He's an accomplished tight-head and I'm sure he'll do well at Kingston Park."
