Saracens winger David Strettle has been linked with a move to Clermont Auvergne with the deal potentially being announced in the next couple of weeks.

The Daily Telegraph reports Strettle is closing in on a deal which would see him join ex-England international Nick Abendanon at Les Jaunards. Strettle has been one of the Aviva Premiership's best finishers and his form last term was enough to see him recalled to the England squad for the World Cup.

Strettle last played for England in 2013 but he was included in the 50-man longlist which was unveiled last week by Stuart Lancaster. If Strettle's move to Clermont materialises then it will put his World Cup spot in jeopardy. The current Rugby Football Union policy only sees those picked overseas in exceptional circumstances, a stance which saw Steffon Armitage and Abendanon excluded from the 50-man list.
