Setback for Tune as injury flares
July 21, 2000

The Wallabies' trio of backline, comeback hopefuls are back on the sick list with all aggravating injuries.

Winger Ben Tune is the latest to join inside-centre Tim Horan and fullback Matt Burke to succumb to persistent injury concerns with his ankle problem again flaring while training with the Wallabies at Coffs Harbour.

Tune, who has not played since last year's World Cup final against France in Cardiff, was hopeful of playing for Brisbane club side GPS this weekend in a bid to convince Wallaby selectors of a full recovery. However, the aggravation is minor and selectors still believe Tune will be available when the team for Saturday week's clash against South Africa, at Stadium Australia, is announced next week.

Both Burke and Horan have been ruled out of the next Tri-Nations clash, with Horan in some doubt to play again for the Wallabies. He is likely to miss the return clash against New Zealand in Wellington, on August 5.

Should he miss Wellington, Horan will have just one more chance to play for the Wallabies before joining London club Saracens, when Australia meets South Africa in Durban on August 26. The Wallabies' most capped centre has not played since suffering ligament damage in his right foot during the Second Test against Argentina, at Ballymore, on June 17.

Burke is continuing to struggle with an ankle injury, much to the distress of Wallaby management who saw the Waratahs fullback as the solution to Australia's goal-kicking problems.
