Northampton Saints prop Soane Tonga'uiha has become the latest high-profile player to join Saracens.

One of the most highly-acclaimed players in the Guinness Premiership, Tonga'uiha will join Sarries at the start of the 2010-11 season. He follows Sale scrum-half Richard Wigglesworth and former Bath prop Matt Stevens in heading to Vicarage Road, with Stevens taking up a contract following the end of his drugs ban in January 2011.

Tonga'uiha has six caps for Tonga and three for the Pacific Islanders and also played at the 2007 Rugby World Cup. He joined Saints for the 2006-07 season after a successful spell in National One with Bedford Blues.

"I have enjoyed my time in Northampton, but everyone can see there is a real energy around Saracens at the moment, and I am looking forward to helping them achieve all their goals," he said.

Saracens director of rugby Brendan Venter paid tribute to Tong'uiha as part of the clubs' plan to have a dominant scrum on the domestic stage and in Europe.

"Soane is a big man, a big player and a magnificent signing for the club," he said. "We are building a scrum that will not simply hold its own in the Premiership and in Europe, but will dominate the opposition. Soane has been a key player for Saints, and he will become a key player for us."
