Wasps have been dealt an injury blow ahead of the Guinness Premiership run-in with England lock Simon Shaw ruled out of action for three weeks with a shoulder injury.

An MRI scan confirmed that the 2009 British & Irish Lion had suffered an injury to the Acromioclavicular (AC) joint in his right shoulder during the early stages of England's Six Nations loss to France on March 20.

The injury is identical to the one Shaw sustained in his left shoulder during defeat to Ireland. The Wasps medical team will continue to monitor his progress but he will miss vital fixtures against Northampton and London Irish.

Wasps are currently fourth in the table, level on points with the Exiles but having played a game more.

Prop Tom French looks set to play some part in the race for the play-offs however, having made his return from a long-term Achilles injury in an 'A' league win over Bath.
