Danny Cipriani will miss out on a chance to leave England manager Martin Johnson a reminder of his talents after fracturing his right metacarpal in Wasps' Guinness Premiership victory over Newcastle last weekend.

Cipriani, who will continue his international exile next year with the Melbourne Rebels Super 15 franchise, had been due to don the black and white of the Barbarians when they take on England at Twickenham on May 30.

While his injury does not require surgery, Cipriani will be required to wear a cast for the next six weeks. He was forced off in the 23rd minute at Kingston Park on Sunday after falling awkwardly while covering a Newcastle kick-ahead.

The talented playmaker has not played a Test for England since their November 2008 defeat to New Zealand at Twickenham, and he was always likely to be overlooked for Johnson's summer tour party to Australia, which was announced on Tuesday.

The injury is another blow in a disappointing send off for Cipriani, with Wasps also failing to make the Premiership play-offs and missing out on a place in the European Challenge Cup final to Cardiff Blues.
