Worcester Warriors will start the new season of Aviva Premiership rugby without new arrival Nikki Walker.

The Scotland international opted to join the Warriors from the Ospreys at the end of last season but has suffered a shoulder injury. Walker will be out for a month and will therefore miss their season opener against Bath at Sixways on September 1.

Worcester head coach Richard Hill commented on Walker's injury saying: "Nikki popped his acromioclavicular joint at the top of his shoulder last week and will be out till October. He did it in a training session which wasn't even full contact so it's disappointing for him and a big blow for us.

"I would have liked to see Nikki play against Bath but his injury means other players will be able to prove how good they are. There is always someone ready to slot in for an injured player and people will be fighting to take his place."

Worcester lost their two first-choice wingers at the end of last season with Miles Benjamin opting to move to Leicester and Marcel Garvey journeying to France. They have recruited David Lemi in the close-season and may also draft in Josh Drauniniu for the season start.
