Premiership Rugby honours the late Tom Walkinshaw

Premiership Rugby has honoured the late Tom Walkinshaw after inducting him into the Hall of Fame.

Walkinshaw passed away in December 2010 and was majority shareholder at Gloucester for 13 years. His son, Ryan, has since taken on the reins and he will collected the award on behalf of his late father at the ceremony on January 22.

Walkinshaw Snr will be joined in the Hall of Fame by one current Leicester player and two former Tigers. George Chuter will be inducted alongside Martin Johnson and Lewis Moody. Former referee Ed Morrison will also be honoured alongside Exeter Chiefs boss Rob Baxter.

Premiership Rugby rugby director Phil Winstanley said: "The six men represent a who's who of professional club rugby in England and we are delighted to welcome them into our Hall of Fame.

"In the list we have two Rugby World Cup winners, one of Aviva Premiership Rugby's leading coaches, a man who refereed a Rugby World Cup Final, a player who played more than 200 Premiership matches and a club owner who left an indelible mark on the game here in England. A formidable line-up."
