Northampton Saints have been dealt a big injury blow after it was confirmed Calum Clark will be out for "a couple of months".

Saints director of rugby Jim Mallinder said forward Clark had to have shoulder surgery and will not be expected back until early 2016.

"Unfortunately Calum Clark has had to have an operation on his shoulder," Mallinder told the Northampton Echo. "It's a shame and he's going to be out for a couple of months."

Clark suffered a shoulder injury during a pre-season clash at Wasps in September. He recently returned to training but suffered another setback, which meant an operation was necessary.
