Leinster extended their undefeated run in all competitions to eight matches with a 30-20 victory over Treviso at the Stadio Comunale di Monigo on Saturday afternoon.
The reigning European champions made a storming start in northern Italy, racking up two tries in the opening eight minutes through No.8 Leo Auva'a and winger Fionn Carr.
However, the boot of scrum-half Tobias Botes kept Treviso in touch and they drew level at 20 points apiece when replacement back-row Manoa Vosawai crashed over early in the second half.
Fergus McFadden responded with his third penalty of the afternoon soon after, though, and Leinster sealed victory when their other centre, Eoin O'Mally, crossed on 63 minutes.
Treviso might have fancied their chances of pulling off another surprise win as Leinster coach Joe Schmidt chose to rest Ireland internationals Jonathan Sexton, Rob Kearney, Leo Cullen and Sean O'Brien. However, Leo Auva'a set the tone for the game when he crossed in the first minute to give the Irish side a flying start.
Leinster wing Carr followed the back-row over moments later but Treviso's Tobias Botes kicked four penalties to keep the Italians in touch at 17-12 down at half-time.
However, excellent kicking by McFadden kept the Italian side at bay before Vosawai crossed for Treviso to level the scores in the second half. Botes missed the simple conversion but McFadden, who had taken over the kicking duties from the rested Sexton, punished Treviso with another penalty before O'Malley touched down.
McFadden duly kicked the conversion to make it 30-20 to end with 15 points to his name and although flanker Shane Jennings was sent to the sin bin late on, Leinster held on to seal the win.
