Young fly-half Steffan Jones pulled the strings as the Dragons coasted to a 29-15 RaboDirect Pro12 win over Edinburgh.

A couple of cracking tries from right wing Tonderai Chavhanga early in the first half allowed the Dragons to get their noses in front and they were never really threatened after that. In an almost immaculate place-kicking performance, Jones converted both the tries and contributed three penalties to which his replacement Lewis Robling added two more.

Edinburgh showed some nice individual touches but continually let themselves down with poor handling that brought any attacking position to a halt. Harry Leonard did take the eye and his five penalties from five attempts brought Edinburgh all their points.

Leonard opened the scoring with a fourth minute try but it was Dragons right winger Chavhanga who set the opening quarter alight with two searing tries. The first after eight minutes followed his own brilliant break that ultimately forced a scrum five. After a couple of forward surges Jones kicked to the right wing where the ball was brilliantly caught by Chavhanga for the score.

His second arrived after 16 minutes when he used his speed to arrive first at a ball kicked to the home posts. Jones kicked both conversions and a penalty.

Leonard kept Edinburgh in touch with three penalties as Dragons continually offended on the ground, finally seeing flanker Darren Watters sin-binned after 24 minutes. Edinburgh could make nothing of the extra man and half-time was reached with Jones having added two further penalties to allow his side to turn with a comfortable 23-12 lead.

Jones then failed for the first time after 45 minutes. Continual handling failures undermined Edinburgh's second half attempts to get back in the match though Leonard did kick his fifth penalty after 52 minutes. Dragons' substitute stand-off Robling made sure of the win with penalties after 66 and 70 minutes.
