London Welsh coach Lyn Jones has revealed that they are still hoping to bolster their squad for the forthcoming Aviva Premiership season.

The Exiles face a baptism of fire in their first match in the top tier of English domestic rugby when they entertain Leicester Tigers on September 2.

They have strengthened in the close-season, with the signings of Gavin Henson, Dan Browne, Tom Arscott and others, but Jones admits that there could be more signings to come.

"We're always looking to recruit and we've always said from the start that our recruitment would not stop on September 2 when we play our first match," he told ESPN. "It just has to carry on until the deadline and that's what we have to do. I'm sure there'll be holes in the team and I'm sure there'll be injuries in the weeks ahead."

The most eye-catching signing the Exiles have made so far is the recruitment of Henson. The Welsh utility enjoyed a successful spell under Jones at the Ospreys before ill-starred stints with Saracens, Toulon and the Cardiff Blues.

Despite his recent issues, Jones is pleased with his man and is looking forward to seeing him turning out in the Premiership.

"He's had three or four years fannying around, but he has to realise that he has four or five years left in the game and he wants to give it his best shot," Jones said. "He's enjoying himself and we've taken the pressure off him. I'm sure the Aviva Premiership will benefit from having such a good player as him."

The task facing Jones is huge, with the Exiles only getting their Premiership status confirmed on June 29 and he is under no illusions as to the magnitude of what lies ahead.

"We've got a huge amount of work still needed to be done and we know that we are four weeks behind several clubs and four years behind the likes of Harlequins," Jones said. "We are well aware of the enormity of the task ahead of us. I expect a high intensity of rugby once the season kicks off. There's no let up in the nine months. It's all about how you manage your squad."
