Henson joins Bristol after cutting short Bath deal

Gavin Henson has joined Bristol with immediate effect after agreeing an early release from his Bath contract.

Henson, 33, joined up with Andy Robinson's squad on Wednesday and will be eligible to play in the current Championship season.

The British and Irish Lion initially signed a one-year deal with Bristol with a view to joining the club in the summer.

"We thank Bath for their co-operation in this matter and agreeing to Gavin's early release," Bristol director of rugby Andy Robinson said. "Once he has integrated into our squad, Gavin will be considered for selection and we look forward to seeing him in a Bristol jersey in the near future."
