Munster will be without openside flanker Niall Ronan for their clash with the Northampton Saints on Sunday.

The 29-year-old limped off against Castres after just 13 minutes and the Celtic league champions have confirmed he will miss the trip to Franklin's Gardens. The Munster statement read: "Ronan had a scan today that showed he's suffered ligament damage to his left knee but he will have to have further examination before the full extent of the injury can be ascertained.

"He becomes the third number seven to end up on the injured list but there was good news for Mike Sherry who is expected to see action in either the AIL or British & Irish Cup this weekend."

Munster also have David Wallace and Tommy O'Donnell on the sidelines and McGahon has warned his charges to be under no illusions of the threat the Saints pose ahead of the final match for both sides in Pool 1. Whilst Munster are through to the knockout stages of the tournament, they will be seeking six from six at Franklin's Gardens to ensure a home quarter-final.

"We know that's there and we just need to finish it off," McGahon told the Irish Independent. "Nobody's harder on the group than the group itself. They know they have things to work on. It wasn't a jubilant dressing-room afterwards.

"We recognise the challenge that awaits in Northampton next week. They're looking for revenge. We need to make sure we step up a few gears."
